Castles & Windmills | Small Public Group Tours

Man has influenced the Dutch landscape throughout history. It's veined with dikes, waterways, mounds, defense lines, estates, villages and towns. Castles, country estates and windmills form an important part of Dutch cultural heritage and have played a major role in shaping and designing the Dutch (cultural) landscape.

We offer tours that visit Amsterdam Muiderslot Castle, a beautiful medieval castle that dates back to 1285. The castle is part of world heritage site the Defence Line of Amsterdam. You can read more about the castle here. The castle visit is offered as a half-day tour and as full day tour, in combination with other exciting discoveries such as the Royal Flower Auction, Keukenhof tulip gardens or a cheese making workshop.

Other tours visit the world heritage windmills of Kinderdijk, where you find the highest concentration of historical windmills in the world. Visit two museum windmills (the rest is still inhabited by families) and climb to the top inside one to see for yourself how windmills work.

As Amsterdam is a small city, all small public group tours depart from Amsterdam Central Station. You have the option to add hotel pick-up & drop-off in Amsterdam to your booking, if you find the station too much hassle to reach by yourself. This way you also have transportation to and from the meeting point arranged. Small public group tours are great if you stay in the city of Amsterdam, if you're traveling solo or as a duo, or if you'd like to meet fellow travelers.

If you stay outside the city of Amsterdam or if you're traveling with children, we'd recommend you to have a look at our private experiences. These are tailored to your personal preferences and interests.
